Soccer ClinicSoccer Clinic
On January 28,2006, Richmond’s Police Athletic League hosted its first ever indoor soccer clinic at The Collegiate School. PAL partnered with the Richmond Kickers Soccer Club to secure an all-star cast of coaches. Clover Hill HS girls coach and 2005 regional coach of the year, Jamie Bird, led the kids in dribbling skills while Kickers pro player, Tony Williams led the kids at a passing station. Kickers Youth Club GM and coach, Tim Krout, demonstrated proper shooting skills to the kids, while retired professional player, Rob Ukrop, taught kids heading and footwork. A big assist came from city police officers Mike Zohab and Mike Bender who officiated the kids as they raced through the soccer obstacle course. The day was a success not only for the 50 kids who participated, but also for the staff of coaches and police officers. It was a great example of the PAL vision of “cops helping kids become champions in life.”
